The Canadian Olympic Foundation is fortunate to work in close partnership with other organizations in the Olympic Family, and various high performance sport associations. Like us, they are dedicated to the development, training, coaching and support of Canadian Olympic athletes and hopefuls.
Canadian Olympic Committee (COC)
A national, private and not-for-profit organization, the Canadian Olympic Committee is responsible for all aspects of Canada’s involvement in the Olympic and Pan America Games. These include a wide array of cultural and educational programs that serve to promote the Olympic Movement in local communities. The Canadian Olympic Committee created the Foundation.
Own the Podium
The Canadian Olympic Foundation is the charitable supporter of both summer and winter sports through the Own the Podium program. Own the Podium is funded by the Foundation through philanthropic donations as well as support from the Government of Canada, Canadian provinces and territories, Canadian companies, the Canadian Olympic Committee and the Canadian Paralympic Committee. Started in 2005, Own the Podium is designed to develop world-class, ethical Canadian athletes who consistently win medals at Olympic and Paralympic Games, as well as other major competitions such as the Pan/Parapan American Games, and World Championships.
Own the Podium provides Canadian athletes, coaches and support personnel with competitive advantages such as technical expertise, additional leadership and services in the areas of travel, training camps, coaching, physiotherapy, sport psychology and sport medicine; research and development of equipment and technology; “top secret” research; and coaching development.
Sport Canada
As part of the Department of Canadian Heritage, Sport Canada funds “carded” Canadian athletes, as well as programs that enhance Canada’s sport development system, advances the goals of the Canadian Sport Policy, and helps Canadian organizations or organizing committees to host international sport events and the Canada Games. Sport Canada works with provincial-territorial governments, National Sport Organizations, Multisport Service Organizations and Canadian Sport Centers to help Canadians participate and excel in sport. Sport Canada is a major co-partner and funder of the Own the Podium.
WinSport Canada (Previously CODA)
WinSport Canada is the nation’s leader in developing and sustaining world calibre winter sport training facilities that give Canadian high performance athletes the ability to become the best in the world and recreational athletes the chance to discover and develop in sport. WinSport Canada, a not-for-profit organization, owns and operates Canada Olympic Park in Calgary, the Bill Warren Training Centre located at the Canmore Nordic Centre, the Beckie Scott High Performance Training Centre on Haig Glacier, and Camp Green on Farnham Glacier.
The Canadian Paralympic Committee (CPC)
The CPC is a non-profit, charitable, private organization responsible for sending Team Canada to each Paralympic Games. It also delivers programs that strengthen the Paralympic Movement in Canada. Through sport, the CPC empowers those with physical disabilities at all levels. It is recognized by the International Paralympic Committee (IPC).
The Coaching Association of Canada (CAC)
The CAC is a not-for-profit amateur sport organization with the mandate to improve the quality and effectiveness of coaching across all levels of the sport system. It was established in 1970 and has become a world leader in coach training and certification.
