The Canadian Olympic Foundation would like to thank Gold Medal Plates for the support they have shown Canadian athletes over the years and commend the success of this year’s events.
Gold Medal Plates is the ultimate celebration of Canadian Excellence in cuisine, wine, the arts and athletic achievement. Celebrated in ten cities across Canada in 2012, Gold Medal Plates featured superb wines and premier chefs in each city in a competition to crown a gold, silver and bronze medal culinary team in each city, and subsequently nationwide at the Canadian Culinary Championships.
The Canadian Olympic Foundation is honoured to be the beneficiary of Gold Medal Plates. Over the past eight years, these events have raised more than $7 million for the Foundation to support high performance programs for athletes, namely Own the Podium. The Foundation is very proud to help fund this incredible program, which is strengthening our athletes’ performances and Canada’s medal potential more every year.
The Gold Medal Plates finale – The Canadian Culinary Championships – took place February 8-9, 2013 in Kelowna, BC. The Gold medallists in each city competed in a two-day challenge with the winner crowned as Canada’s Champion Chef of 2013. After an exciting two days of culinary competition, this year’s Champion Chef is Marc St. Jacques of Auberge du Pommier in Toronto!
